WHAT IS YOGA

Yoga is an ancient system comprising physical, mental and spiritual practices designed to bring about enhanced wellbeing. The philosophies of yoga offer a way to live with greater compassion and respect toward all beings, including ourselves, and explore ways in which to live skillfully and cultivate true happiness.

The poses, or asanas, are perhaps the most recognisable aspect of the practice of yoga but they are only one facet of a much greater path with the ultimate goal of stilling the mind, forging deeper and more meaningful relationships and connecting with something timeless.

Carly offers the following styles of yoga…

VINYASA

This is a dynamic style of yoga that fluidly moves from pose to pose in synchronicity with the breath. We use the poses, the movement and the breath to focus the mind on the present moment, to find meditation in movement. Vinyasa Yoga takes the practitioner to where challenge arises, physically, mentally and energetically. Challenge can present opportunity to study ourselves and how we live our lives. This study of the self allows us to recognise our habits and thought patterns and perhaps evolve those in ways to better serve us.

HATHA

Hatha Yoga is a gentle, slow moving style that offers poses with time and space to find mindfulness within the body and connection with the present moment. It increases physical strength and flexibility, helps to calm the mind and invites deep rest and relaxation.

YIN

Yin Yoga is a nourishing style of yoga involving long passive holds in poses. It is designed to bring about health to the body’s joints and deep connective tissues whilst also balancing subtle energetic forces within the body. It encourages you to slow down, relax, connect with body and breath and drop into the inherent meditative aspect.

PRE & POST NATAL

Pre and Post Natal Yoga provide a beautiful, safe and effective practice to relax and strengthen the body during and after pregnancy. Breathing exercises and meditation are also explored to help prepare mentally for birth and to aid through the challenges of motherhood. Practicing yoga with a baby in utero or a baby earthside can help to establish connection with baby and also to align with the ever-changing role of mama.

BHAKTI YOGA

The practice of Bhakti moves more into the subtle bodies. We work with ancient mythologies and deities to elicit certain vibrational qualities that enable a deeper understanding of, and connection to, ourselves and the experience of life as a whole.
